Troy or Eeyore...who's who?

Some of Troy's fellow workers call him Eeyore. When we were at Disney World last December, we had Troy take his picture with Eeyore. We promptly emailed the photo to his office. The picture was a hit and made its way onto several computers as screen savers. June 28th was Troy's 34th birthday. I thought it would be fun to see if I could make a fondant Eeyore to use as a birthday cake topper for him. Much to my surprise, I was able to sculpt something that resembled Eeyore! Troy got a kick out of it and the kids wanted to eat it! Here's the pictures of Troy with Eeyore, the fondant Eeyore and Troy's cake.

Go GG Go !!

Rick's mom Trilla came for a visit recently. She and I joined Stefany and Richard Glyn for a morning at the dinosaur museum, followed by a picnic in the park. At the park, there is a hill the kids love to roll or race down. Richard Glyn had been running up and down the hill for quite awhile, when Trilla decided she should go race him. So...off she went up the hill. I grabbed my camera and caught it on video. I hope I am able to race my Great Grand-Kids when I'm 80!

Sweet Treats

I had sugar cookie dough in the freezer and fondant in the cupboard so, I made some cookies shaped like ice cream cones. I even got ambitious and drug out my air gun and compressor and shot them with a little luster dust. The grandkids enjoyed eating them and so did I. Yum!!! It added another 5 pounds to my butt. They were good but, not that good. HA!

Papa Keeps The Kids Dry

Last Sunday we all went out to lunch at a cute place on Lake Houston. As we entered the restaurant, the kids saw the splash pad and asked if they could play in it after lunch. Their parent's told them NO because, later that evening, neighbors were coming over for a party and they were going to play on the water slide. After lunch they asked Papa if he would take them outside to get a closer look at the lake. Check out the video to see how well Rick did his job of keeping the them dry. The whole time they were getting wet, they kept yelling...Papa you are going to get in SOOOOOOOOO much trouble!!! We didn't have any towels with us so, we striped them down and they rode home naked. They thought the whole thing was a riot!

This Is So Texas

I have said it for 17 years and I'm saying it again...people in Texas do strange things. This is what I saw out my window. It made me laugh. Of course, I gasped and prayed for the guy first.

A Lasso & Hat Promote Cowboy Skills

This year Easter in Texas seemed like a western movie. Friends who currently live in Thailand, watched Bub's rodeo announcing routine via my video. They decided to send him a lasso. A cowboy hat was immediately added by his parents. The new garb seems to have elevated his cowboy skills. Yesterday he requested cowboy "pants." I can't wait to see if the pants propel his skills even further!

Rick Builds Bub A Truck

Rick and I decided it would be nice to build each grandchild something special as a keepsake. For Carey's 1st birthday Rick built her a pink, rocking Harley. My job was painting it. For her brother, we decided a hand built truck was in order. It took a few years to get around to building it but...WOW! I think Rick really out did himself. Since it was built with exotic wood, there was no staining or painting. Just a sprayed finish of varnish. No work for Danna. I hope it is something that Richard Glyn will treasure for years to come!

After a few weeks of carpentry, painting and hooking up electronics, our "Old Eyes" project is pretty much complete. Everything appears to be working seamlessly. I love all the tech toys but, they need to be easy to operate. You can only teach an old dog so many new tricks. This old dog thinks she is almost at capacity. Ha!

Carey's Hit...

Our grand-daughter Carey Lee is playing her first season of baseball. She is the only girl on the team. She got a hit today and the whole thing made me laugh. From not believing she had hit the ball and should run, to not realizing she should run to second base. She finished up with a "photo-op" pose when she crossed home plate. Her younger brother spent his time munching on snacks. Ahhhhhh...take me out the ball game!

Breathing In The Green

Last night I was texting with Kallie. I told her about the "green goop" that comes to Houston every year and stays for 3 to 4 weeks. I think she thought I was telling "tall tales" when I described how awful it is and how much of it there is. I told her I would send her a picture this morning. I decided a video demonstration would be more effective. I cleaned the glass patio table last night at 11:30 pm and shot this video at 9:30 this morning. After you view my demo...please feel SORRY for me!!!! Ha.

Bodacious

We took the grandkids to the Houston Rodeo last week. It's the largest rodeo in the world. Our grandson caught on to the bull announcing quickly. It cracked me up. Enjoy! Oh...he does not usually have such a heavy drawl. Ha!

Old Eyes Need A Bigger Screen

I decided I could no longer
stand the fact my eyes were getting too old to
see the small TV in our great-room. Other
TV's in our home are large screens in smaller rooms. The TV is 17 years old and so are my eyes! Viewing the channel guide sitting 23 feet away, is no longer possible. I know I have the option of getting off the couch and putting my nose on the TV screen for viewing but, the idea of getting that much exercise seems overwhelming. So... we are installing "modern" electronics in our great-room. I use the term "modern" because I am
referring to American standards not Cambodian standards. Ha. We found new equipment but, could not find a cabinet that would house what we needed in a size of proper height and depth. Of course, that meant Rick had to start building. It's nice to be married to a talented guy! I thought some of you might enjoy following another one of Danna's hair-brained projects. Hopefully, I will have more progress pictures in a week or so.
Picture #1 Old and very small TV.
Picture #2 My creative way of determining what size and height I needed in a flat screen and cabinet.

Give Me A Sugar Kiss

The grandkids were coming over and I thought it would be fun to have a treat waiting for them. In the freezer sugar cookie dough was waiting to be baked. I also had some leftover buttercream frosting in the fridge. I only had 30 minutes to decorate them so, I wasn't able to do anything too fancy. It didn't matter because they thought they "lips" were cute and gobbled them up. YUM!

Oh Sugar, Sugar...

Sugar seems to be the theme of the week. Here are some pictures of the completed Hula Girl mini cakes and the onesie cookie tree. The cookies took about 12 minutes each to decorate so, it was truly a labor of love. (or boredom)

Sugar Art...

Last winter I took a few cake decorating classes at the local college.. Yes, I know...boring! In an effort to make the activity sound more exciting, I am now referring to my baking as "Sugar Art"...

Here's a few pictures of my latest work.

Posting My Boring Life

As I promised Kallie, I am setting up a blog. She promised it was the easiest way for both she and Lynette to follow my daily and very boring activities. So, Kallie...this blog is for you! You better leave comments on my posts so I know you are watching! Ha.
